The Tranquil Sea

Standing alone

in the tranquil sea

I’m awaiting my love’s arrival

She’s been travelling for weeks

moving away from the sun

Yet,

Only to journey to its light once more

I sit on a moon rock

Barely feeling the sharp edges

as they cut me deep

When she finally arrives

I’ll swoop her off her weary feet

Shield her from the light

Onward we must go

But her body is broken

So,

I will carry her

To the land of eternal darkness

Just beyond the horizon

Forever out of reach

of the solar beast

and the billions of eyes

watching us

from the blue monster beneath
