I Smile

as a cool wind whispers

among slumbering willows

she warms my side

sings me her song

I think of roads

both, behind

And yet to travel

Then, in the darkness

I smile

Years from now

When the willows are taller

the children are gone

and my hair is too

I envision us

still just like this

her head on my shoulder

her hand in mine

I smile

And for one of us

When the clock runs out

Will have no choice

But to move on, to the sky

And the other shall wait

until the day

When we will see each other again

In a wonderful place

Where there is no death

We’ll never be apart again

I dream of that day

And I smile
