“I saw them and I knew them all. And yet
Dauntless the slug-horn to my lips I set,
And blew. ’Childe Roland to the Dark Tower came.”
– Robert Browning
Update on our little adventurer.
Somehow, our boy was exposed to e-coli while in the NICU. He’s responding well to antibiotics and is now giving the nurses hell. He’s big for a thirty-weeker (4 lbs. 17″) and I think that has something to do with his quick recovery. One thing is for sure – he’s a fighter.
In a week, he’ll begin to bottle-feed. Then we’ll get to conduct actual care-times. It hasn’t been too long since his sister was in the same situation (14 months ago), so we’re not too far removed from practice. Everyone here is anxious. We want him home. We understand that he needs to be where he is at, but that knowledge doesn’t make his absence any easier to bear.
I hope that, at the time of this writing, you and your families are doing well.
